Summertime Skin Tips to Offer Patients

Blog Posts

It feels like only yesterday that the new year began, but now it’s already summer! As the seasons change, so do your patients’ skin needs. Being able to offer advice to your patients shows you care about their wellbeing and will further the loyalty they feel towards you and your practice.

Avoid Excess Sunlight

Although we all enjoy basking in the sun to feel revitalized, it’s important to remember to avoid excess sun exposure. Bare skin is a prime target for the sun’s harmful UV rays which can cause photodamage leading to sunspots, dried skin, wrinkles, and sunburns – all of which are terrible for overall skin health.

There are a few ways to help spare your skin from these rays. Utilizing shade, umbrellas, hats, and even lightweight long sleeves & pants can help protect the skin while the summer festivities commence! Another go-to is sunscreen, with the proper amount of SPF, as it will act as a barrier between the sun and your patients’ skin.

Keep Cool

The primary way to keep skin healthy in the summer is avoiding excess sunlight, though we all know how easy it is to forget this when out on the beach trying to catch a tan. Being exposed to the sun for long periods of time dries out the skin, exacerbating fine lines and wrinkles and potentially leading to itchy irritated skin.

Whether it’s during an afternoon break, or at night, utilizing a face mask can offer the skin the extra hydration it needs after being out and about all day. Our B.E. Beautiful Energy Replenishing Face & Neck Mask immediately soothes and hydrates dry skin. To top it off, it can even reduce the sensation of heat on the face and neck.

Hydration, Hydration, Hydration

Hydration is of utmost importance when it comes to skin health, especially in the summer. We often think of topicals when thinking about keeping our skin hydrated, such as moisturizers. Moisturizers can certainly be beneficial in hydrating the skin and our Ultra-Hydrating Face & Eye Cream is a rich and concentrated moisturizing cream that seals and nourishes dry skin, improving hydration while offering brighter looking skin.

Although moisturizers work wonders in keeping skin hydrated, it’s not the only piece of the puzzle. Seeing how our skin pulls water from within our body to ensure it doesn’t dry out, it’s important to drink plenty of water during the summer. The heat of the summer leads to sweating, which removes a lot of the water we retain, meaning your skin has less to pull from.

RF Treatments

RF treatments are a great option for your patients in the summer. Treatments such as Potenza’s RF Microneedling with Fusion Tip can drive topicals into the dermis of the skin, offering extra hydration while strengthening the network of collagen and elastin underneath.

Another summer treatment to offer patients is the TempSure Envi treatment, which utilizes RF energy to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the face – including crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles. These wrinkles are more exaggerated during the summer due to the dry air.

These tips will keep your patients’ skin healthy and looking its best during the summer months. They can go take a few beach selfies and show off their summer glow!
