Chief Executive Officer
Todd Tillemans joined Cynosure in January 2020 as the company’s Chief Executive Officer to lead the company in its mission to innovate, develop and create best-in-class energy-based aesthetic and medical treatment systems. Prior to joining Cynosure, Todd served as the President of The Hershey Company’s flagship U.S. business generating over $6.5 billion in annual sales. Todd also held various leadership positions across Unilever’s skin and personal care portfolio where he helped build powerful global brands including Dove, Axe, Vaseline, Ponds and Degree.
Todd proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Minnesota, and later went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In his free time, Todd enjoys adventure travel with his family, photography, and running.

Chief Financial Officer
David Long joined Cynosure in April 2020 as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. In this role, he leads the company’s global finance organization. David brings a career of more than 25 years of financial expertise to Cynosure. Most recently, he served as the Chief Financial Officer at Corindus Vascular Robotics, where he was instrumental in the company’s initial public offering in 2014 and $1.1 billion strategic sale of the company to Siemens in 2019. Prior to Corindus, David served as the Vice President of Finance for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Laboratory Equipment and Workstations Division.
David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. David also serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Accountancy at Bentley University. David enjoys spending time with his four children, hiking and running.
Vice President, Global Clinical Affairs
Rich Bankowski joined Cynosure when it acquired Palomar Medical Technologies, Inc. in 2013 and has held various positions starting from Field Clinical Director up to his current role as the Vice President of Global Clinical Affairs. He works with leading cosmetic dermatologists and plastic surgeons worldwide on the clinical development of new technology. Prior to joining Palomar, Rich worked on the management team of Continuum Biomedical to pioneer the use of erbium lasers and advance the use of Q-switched lasers. Early in his career as a Sales & Clinical Specialist for HGM Lasers, his understanding of ophthalmic lasers and applications helped expand the market for krypton laser technology in the dermatology market for unwanted pigmented and vascular lesion treatment applications. For the past 20 years, he has been directly involved with the research & development, clinical applications & training and sales & marketing of energy-based systems. Rich is also the former co-founder of a private cosmetic laser dermatology clinic, where he worked to develop and test new technologies for 15 years.
Rich serves on the Industry Advisory Councils of both the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). Throughout his career, he has served on multiple ASLMS committees, which includes a three-year term on its Board of Directors.

Vice President, Research and Development
Jim Boll joined Cynosure in 1993 and has held various positions starting from Program Manager to his current role as Vice President of Research and Development. Throughout his career, Jim has consistently worked at the front lines interfacing between physicians and technical groups applying optical and radiofrequency sources along with their delivery systems to many different medical specialties. Prior to Cynosure, Jim started his career working at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital as a Laser Engineer. Following this, Jim continued studying laser-tissue interaction at the University of Munich Eye Clinic in Germany. Coming back to the US, Jim contributed to Candela Corporation where he led a mix of medical, government and academic laser development programs before joining Laserscope where he returned his focus to medical laser prototyping and development, prior to joining Cynosure.
Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University and a Master of Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, both in Biomedical Engineering. He has been riding a unicycle since he was 10 years old and still enjoys doing it today.

Senior Vice President - Engineering
Eric Brown joined Cynosure in 2010 as the Vice President of Product Engineering. Since joining, Eric and his team were responsible for the successful product launches of SculpSure, TempSure and PicoSure. Prior to joining Cynosure, Eric led Smith & Nephew’s Sports Medicine Capital R&D team, developing disposable arthroscopic shaver blades, fluid management equipment and control systems. He also served as the Director of a Process Engineering team responsible for high volume production of GaAs Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors at Kopin Corporation after starting his career with Johnson & Johnson’s Codman Division developing neurosurgical equipment and instrumentation.
Eric earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He loves boating, skiing and spending time with family.

Sean Flanagan joined Cynosure in October of 2018 and currently leads the company’s global legal organization. Prior to joining Cynosure, Sean acted as Corporate Counsel at NxStage Medical, Inc., a publicly traded company engaged in developing innovative technologies aimed at improving treatment options for dialysis patients. At NxStage, Sean served a lead legal representative for NxStage’s renal care division and assisted with the $2 billion sale of NxStage to Fresenius Medical Care. Sean began his career as a Corporate Associate at Devine, Millimet & Branch, Professional Association in Manchester, NH specializing in corporate transactional work.
Sean earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and his Juris Doctor (cum laude) from Suffolk University in Boston, MA, where he was a member of the Suffolk University Law Review. Outside of work, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, especially when they are vacationing in Maine.
Vice President, Global Marketing
Bill Fruhan joined Cynosure in 2017 as the Vice President of Global Marketing. Previously, he served as the Vice President of Global Marketing for the GYN Surgical Solutions Division of Hologic. During his time at Hologic, Bill restructured the marketing leadership team and launched 4 new products ahead of schedule, resulting in increased revenue of $100M. Prior to joining Hologic, Bill served as the Vice President of Marketing at NxStage Medical achieving 16% revenue growth of the company’s Home Hemodialysis (HHD) business unit in just his first year. Throughout his career, Bill has also held several other Marketing leadership roles in the pharmaceutical and medical device spaces at Sunovion Pharmaceuticals and Boston Scientific.
Bill earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Middlebury College and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He is married with four children and spends his free time coaching soccer and attending his kids’ sporting events on the weekends.

Senior Vice President, Global Services & Operations
Jim Palastra joined Cynosure in 2004 and has held various positions starting from Director of Sales Administration up to his current role as the Senior Vice President of Global Services and Operations. Prior to joining Cynosure, Jim served as the Senior Director of Service Operations at Tyco Healthcare.
Having survived a late stage cancer, Jim is passionate about the healthcare industry and providing funding for compassionate care and treatments. Since his diagnosis, Jim has run over 9 marathons and done countless other fundraising activities, raising over $500,000 for cancer research. Jim enjoys boating with family and friends on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.

Executive Vice President, International
Jorge Pinedo joined Cynosure in December 2019 as the Executive Vice President, International. Jorge comes from Johnson & Johnson where he most recently led the turnaround and growth acceleration of Vision Care, while consolidating market leadership in Asia-Pacific. While at J&J, Jorge also created a first-of-its-kind Myopia Global Center of Excellence and Innovation in partnership with the Singapore government. He also led Sight for Kids helping more than 25 million underprivileged children suffering from Myopia.
Prior to joining J&J, Jorge served as a founding member of Mead Johnson Nutrition’s separation from Bristol-Myers Squibb, creating one of the most successful IPO’s in 2009. He has also been recognized for his efforts around Diversity & Inclusion, specifically for driving successful career development for women in key leadership positions. Jorge’s international experience coupled with his strong and diverse resume; holding prior leadership roles in the consumer, retail and medical device spaces; are a tremendous asset to Cynosure’s international future.
Jorge earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration, both from the University of Miami. As a global citizen, Jorge has lived in 17 cities around the world. In his free time, he enjoys traveling to ski, scuba diving, following soccer and learning from diverse cultures.

Andrea Schwab joined Cynosure in 2004 and has held various positions starting from an Area Sales Manager up to her current role as the Vice President of North American Sales. Upon joining Cynosure, Andrea was an integral part of taking the company public back in 2004, and has continued to achieve unparalleled success during her career at Cynosure, winning a total of 11 President’s Club Awards and 3 Director of the Year Awards. Prior to joining the company, Andrea held various sales leadership positions at DHL and Airborne Express.
Andrea earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University. She lives in Hermosa Beach, California with her husband, two kids and dog Bozley.

Vice President, Global Human Resources
Maureen Tarca joined Cynosure in 2005 as the Vice President of Human Resources. During her tenure, she has worked alongside senior leadership to build a world class HR organization that has led our people through 2 major acquisitions in less than 3 years. Prior to joining Cynosure, Maureen worked as a Senior Management Consultant providing a wide range of strategic management consulting services after garnering extensive experience in Human Resources through her time spent at Excel Communications, Compucom, and Daniel Roberts.
Maureen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Emmanuel College. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends on Cape Cod.
