Dr. Wilbanks has spent the entirety of his medical career practicing with Virginia Women’s Center. For over two decades, he was a leader in obstetrical care, navigating many women through high-risk pregnancies, and in gynecologic care, where he emphasized conservative treatments and minimally invasive surgical options. After a bike injury in 2014, he retired from the practice of obstetrics and now focuses his practice on non-surgical gynecology. His clinical interests include Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), uterine fibroids, metabolic syndrome and the management of menopausal symptoms and mood disorders. He is excited to offer the innovative MonaLisa laser treatment to restore the vaginal health of women who suffer with vaginal atrophy. Dr. Wilbanks sees patients at our St. Mary’s office and our John Rolfe Commons office near Short Pump.

Dr. Wilbanks received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University and his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his internship and residency in OB-GYN at the Medical College of Virginia.

Dr. Wilbanks is active in community affairs and has served on the boards for many local organizations. He is particularly interested in health care economics and the disparities in health care among the disadvantaged. He and his wife, Kelly, have two teenage children. They are parishioners of St. James’s Episcopal Church and enjoy sporting events and travel.

Dr. Kristin Schraa attended Bellarmine College in Louisville, Kentucky where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She received her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed her residency at the Medical College of Virginia. She joined Virginia Women's Center in 1998 and practices at our Mechanicsville and Tappahannock offices.

In 2012, Dr. Schraa retired from obstetrics to focus her practice on gynecology. She enjoys caring for women of all ages and has particular interest in adolescent health, reproductive issues, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), menopause and perimenopause. Dr. Schraa is also experienced in gynecologic surgery and offers the MonaLisa laser procedure for treatment of vaginal atrophy.

Dr. Schraa is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine and the Ware-Dunn Society.

Dr. Schraa and her husband, a pharmacist, spend as much time as possible with their two sons. She stays active in her children’s school and extracurricular activities. The four enjoy relaxing at home in Mechanicsville and travelling to the beach. Dr. Schraa likes to unwind by sewing, baking and playing basketball.
