    Sandi Peterson

    Sandi Peterson was appointed as Chairman of Cynosure’s Board of Directors in December 2019 when global private equity firm, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) acquired Cynosure. She joined CD&R in 2019. Prior to CD&R, she was group worldwide chairman of Johnson & Johnson, where she led the consumer and medical devices businesses and was responsible for the corporation’s global supply chain, as well as its technology strategy and infrastructure. Previously, Ms. Peterson served as CEO of Bayer CropScience AG, CEO of Bayer Medical Care, and president of Bayer HealthCare AG’s Diabetes Care Division. She started her career at McKinsey and has held executive positions at Medco Health Solutions (formerly known as Merck-Medco), Nabisco, and Whirlpool. Ms. Peterson is a member of the Microsoft Board of Directors and is on the board of trustees of the Institute for Advanced Study, the world-renowned center for science and humanities research in Princeton, NJ. She has appeared on Fortune magazine’s list of most powerful women numerous times and was featured on the magazine’s inaugural list of leaders changing healthcare.

  • Michael Davin,

    Michael Davin

    Michael Davin was appointed to Cynosure’s Board of Directors January 2020. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Davin served as CEO at Cynosure from 2003 to 2017. During his 14-year tenure at Cynosure, he led the company to an IPO, oversaw its international expansion, executed key acquisitions and achieved compound annual revenue growth of more than 20 percent.

    Mr. Davin has over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry and is a recipient of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of The Year® Award in the Medical Devices category in New England. Prior to Cynosure, in 1998 to 2003, he served as Co-founder and Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Strategic Development of Cutera, Inc., a provider of laser and other light-based aesthetic treatment systems. Prior to co-founding Cutera, Mr. Davin spent 11 years at Coherent Medical, a manufacturer of laser, optics and related equipment, in senior management positions in sales, marketing and clinical development.

    Mr. Davin holds Director positions on four boards: Allurion Technologies, Inkbit Technologies, 15-40 Connection, and OpenTable, Maynard, MA.

  • Michelle Freyre,

    Michelle Freyre

    Michelle Freyre was appointed to Cynosure’s Board of Directors January 2020. Ms. Freyre is currently the Senior Vice President, Global General Manager, Clinique at the Estée Lauder Companies. She is responsible for guiding the brand’s overall strategic vision, including innovation, product development and marketing, and all facets of consumer and digital engagement. Prior to Clinique, Ms. Freyre worked at Johnson & Johnson for 20 years, all within the Beauty category. As President of the U.S. Beauty business, she held responsibility for the company’s market-leading, iconic portfolio of Beauty brands. Ms. Freyre earned a 2016 CEW Achiever Award recognizing her contributions to the Beauty industry.  She was also named on the 2018 FORTUNE 50 Most Powerful Latinas in Business, as well as honored as a 2018 Working Mother of the Year.  Ms. Freyre was also recognized in the Top 10 2017 LATINA Corporate Executives of the Year by LATINA Style Magazine and selected as one of the 25 most influential women in the U.S. by People En Español magazine.

  • Anne Gates,

    Anne Gates

    Anne Gates has been in global consumer products businesses for over 35 years. She retired as President, MGA Entertainment, which is the largest privately held toy company in the United States with a global reach.  Ms. Gates is past Executive Vice President and CFO of The Walt Disney Company’s Consumer Products Division and past Managing Director for Disney Consumer Products Europe and Emerging Markets based in London.  She also worked for Pepsi, in both the US and Europe, Bear Stearns (VP, Investment Banking), AT&T (Marketing) and Bell Labs (Research).

    She is currently on the Kroger Board, serving on the Audit and Public Responsibility Committees  – she is Chair of the Audit Committee there.  She is also on the Tapestry, Inc. Board and serves on the Audit Committee and the Governance and Nominations Committee – she is also Chair of the Audit Committee there.  She is also a member of the Raymond James Financial Board, serving on the Audit and Risk Committee.

    She also serves on the Boards of Public Media Group SoCal (Chair of the Investment Committee), Cadre, the UC Berkeley Foundation, and Salzburg Global Seminar (SGS). She has served on several other boards, including the Board of Directors for Super RTL (a German entertainment company).

    She has also been named to the Power List of Britain’s 100 most influential black people.

    She received her MS degree from the Engineering School at Columbia University, where she also completed post-graduate work.  She has her BA degree in Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley.

  • Derek Strum,

    Derek Strum

    Derek Strum was appointed to Cynosure’s Board of Directors December 2019. Mr. Strum is a partner at CD&R. He joined CD&R in 2003 and plays a key role in the Firm’s investments in agilon health, Carestream Dental, Cynosure, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, Healogics, and SmileDirectClub, as he did for CD&R’s prior investments in AssuraMed, Envision Healthcare, PharMEDium, and VWR International. Previously, he worked in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley and at York Capital Management, a multi-strategy investment firm.
