Job Purpose:  
Hands-on leadership and direction of an embedded software team developing state of the art computer controls for medical lasers.   Assures high-quality execution of new and improved software design, implementation and documentation while meeting established timeline and budgetary requirements.  A thorough knowledge of & experience with Windows XP embedded is required, application design experience is required and driver design experience is a big plus. The successful candidate will also be familiar with typical medical device safety requirements (EN60601-1) and related software design safety requirements. Knowledge of EN62304 is preferred.
   
Key Results Area:
Manage all aspects of the software development cycle including planning, architecture, functional and design specifications, integration, test strategy documentation, defect management and configuration control.
Understand design objectives, identify important project milestones and lead the software team to achieve those objectives in a coordinated, efficient & timely manner.
Determine design direction and methodology for components, subsystems and systems. Initiate design tasks and work to integrate hardware and software to create a complete system.
Thorough knowledge of and experience with XP embedded and specifically its application in complex multi-processor RTOS controlled machines is required.
Assure system level integration and troubleshooting of complex real time embedded software and related hardware systems for an XP embedded medical laser.
Work closely with the program management and development teams to drive quality through design and implementation.
Maintain knowledge of regulations and standards of embedded software development. Research industry / market for solution insights, direction, vendors, and methodologies.  Maintain a current understanding of emerging technologies and trends in services and tools
Maintain software for existing products; plans and implements upgrades as required. Ability to work with and improve existing code and architect a broader automated test framework
Develop and optimize development practices  including coding standards, tools, and platforms
Work within a multi-disciplinary team (optics, electronics, mechanical)
Experience developing medical devices in an ISO and FDA regulated environment.

Job Purpose:  

The QA Specialist performs quality activities in support of new and existing products.  The position has a great deal of interaction with many internal departments, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Quality Control, and Customer/Field Service.  The position may also have interactions with external entities including contractors, suppliers, and customers.  The QA Specialist performs a wide variety of activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements; such as documentation reviews; conducting quality audits; assisting with employee training; quality database maintenance; and data analysis.

Maintain QA Training Program/Database and QA Training Files and identify discrepancies and deficiencies.
Perform New Hire GMP Training and GMP Refresher Training, in accordance with all procedures.
Assist in the internal audit program to help ensure the compliance of the internal departments to applicable regulations.
Aid in the tracking and trending of CAPAs, Product Complaints, Equipment Calibrations, and Employee Training through the use of various databases and statistical tools.
Prepare and update Quality Assurance documents.  Review and approve interdepartmental documents to ensure
conformance with the regulations and guidelines.
Participates in coordinating daily activities within the assigned functional area.
Participate in departmental and interdepartmental meetings to help resolve product/process issues.
